OEI completed a geotechnical field investigation to assess the foundation bearing of suspect columns at the referenced facility in Hackensack, NJ.  Based on previous inspections of these columns, a field exploration program was performed that consisted of GPR survey of an approximate 60 feet by 60 feet area in the region of interest.  

Then three test pits were excavated by hand to expose the foundations of the column and the exterior wall and to verify the depth of the footings below grade, condition of the footings and any potential evidence of erosion by suspected water leaks.  Voids beneath the slab in the section of the garage of interest and around the drainage pipe beneath the slab were observed.

An interim geotechnical report was submitted following the field investigation that discussed the Site conditions and the completed field exploration program along with an evaluation of the field observations and recommendations for further inspections and investigation.
