The project involved the replacement of the Central Avenue Bridge over the Garden State Parkway, widening of the Garden State Parkway northbound, and widening of ramps to and from the Route 280 interchange to improve safety and operations at Interchange 145. Oweis Engineering Inc. provided geotechnical services that include the implementation of a subsurface investigation using soil borings and ground penetrating radar, geotechnical alternatives analyses and design for bridge foundations and retaining walls and preparation of reports. Geotechnical analyses included analyses and recommendations concerning settlements, drilled shafts, micropiles, reduced width spread footings using prestressed anchors, cantilever, soldier pile, and anchored retaining wall systems. Provided construction support services that included shop drawing review and controlled inspection services for construction of micropiles, drilled shafts, sonic logging, tieback anchors, and concrete underpinning.
