Oweis Engineering Inc. served as a geotechnical expert witness in the litigation following the collapse of a road built over a low-level relieving platform. Including the review of all records, development of an explanation of the events leading to the failure, and derivation of pile loads based on post failure geometry and PLAXIS Finite Element software. 

Marine borer activity was identified as the main cause of failure as the section of the piles got reduced to the point of failure. Telltales prior to the failure included sinkholes caused by deterioration of the lower platform and fill washing into the Hudson River.
