Project Highlights:
Geotechnical Investigation
Environmental Investigation
Borings
Field Permiability tests with grain size analysis
Oweis Engineering Inc. conducted the geotechnical and environmental investigations to support the design of a nearly 1000 feet of flood wall along the waterfront. The flood stage characteristics established by the client were used in a transient numerical finite element model to assess the need for a cut-off to preclude uplift of the slab along the structures along the waterfront. The recommended design involved 30 feet cut-off sealed sheeting and a collection drain along the protected side. The geotechnical program included borings, field permeability tests and grain size analysis. The environmental program provided data on the quality of the upper soils for disposal purposes.
