Support of Excavation/Underpinning

Oweis conducted excavation support designs using a variety of techniques which all typically include some tie back scheme. These designs include conventional sheet piles, soldier beam and lagging, slurry (diaphragm) walls, secant pile walls and soil and soil nailing techniques. Underpinning is required if the project requires excavating beneath an adjacent building or near an adjacent foundation. Numerous underpinning projects were designed by Oweis typically by the underpinning pit method coupled with a monitoring program to document safety. On fewer occasions, underpinning utilized micro piles to support the footing to be protected or simply installing a rigid secant pile wall.
